課程概述

This course reviews the way in which evolutionary thought illuminates medical science. It is designed for medical students and graduate students in the biological sciences. Both graduate students and advanced undergraduates who have had a course in genetics, evolution or biology are encouraged to participate.

本課程探討演化的觀念如何啟發醫學研究。現代醫學活動與研究專注在疾病的生理以及分子機制，而演化醫學則聚焦於這些機制是如何演化出來的以及為何會導致疾病？此課程針對醫學院學生以及具生物背景的研究生。歡迎修習過遺傳學、或演化學的上述學生參加。

課程目標

Unlike modern medical research and practice, which has focused on the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying health and disease, the course concentrates on the question of why evolution has shaped these mechanisms in ways that may leave people susceptible to disease.

課程要求

本課程探討演化的觀念如何啟發醫學研究。現代醫學活動與研究專注在疾病的生理以及分子機制，而演化醫學則聚焦於這些機制是如何演化出來的以及為何會導致疾病？【課程教學方式】：實體混合視訊遠距教學。工作地點在台中(含)或宜蘭(含)以南的學生，可以選擇遠距教學的比例為學習課程總數的三分之二(超過三分之一時，需附在職證明)，其餘的學生可運用遠距教學的比例則為學習課程總數的三分之一。
